Our president, Kevin Padgett, began in the piano business over thirty years ago. He was fascinated with the intonation differences between pianos and noticed that some pianos really didn't sound very pleasing. He resolved to begin the long process of ear training.
Kevin began tuning (or at least made improvements to) the pianos that friends would allow him to practice on. This was essentially the beginning of a career that has lasted for decades.
Since some manufacturing facilities were located in the Southeastern U.S., Kevin began making regular visits practicing the techniques he would soon incorporate into his own shop. During this process the challenge of building a piano became an irresistible goal. While he continued to pursue the knowledge and techniques necessary to accomplish such a task, he gained many of the skills that now sets Savannah Piano and Jamestown Piano Shop apart.
Several years passed and Kevin did in fact build several pianos under the name, "Jamestown." Throughout the realization of this dream, tuning, repairing and rebuilding pianos remained the top priority.
Savannah Piano and Jamestown Piano Shop have grown a lot since that early success. Currently we have two retail locations, a rebuild shop and thousands of satisfied customers.
